Onion batata Pulao is good variation in simple rice.

Pulao is a dish in which rice is cooked in a seasoned broth. In some cases, the rice may attain its brown or golden color by first being sauteed lightly in oil before the addition of broth. Cooked onion, other vegetables, as well as a mix of spices, may be added. Depending on the local cuisine.

Ingredients for masala:

  • Oil ½ cup
  • Onion (sliced) 2 large
  • Ginger Garlic Paste 1 tbsp
  • Tomato (sliced) 2
  • Chili Powder 1 ½ tsp
  • Coriander Powder 1 ½ tsp
  • Turmeric1/2 tsp
  • Salt 1 ½ tsp
  • Garam Masala ½ tsp
  • Curry Leaves 15 – 20
  • Potatoes (chopped) 4
  • Green Chilies (strips)6

Ingredient For Pulao:

  • Oil 1/2 cup
  • Ginger Garlic Paste 1 tbsp
  • Chili Powder 1 tsp
  • Coriander Powder 1 tsp
  • Turmeric ½ tsp
  • Garam Masala ¼ tsp
  • Curry Leaves 10-12
  • Cumin Seeds 1 tsp
  • Mix Whole Spices 1 tbsp
  • Salt 1 1/2 tsp
  • Rice (soaked) ½ kg

Preparation Method for masala:

  • Heat oil add onion fry
  • Than add all the spices, chopped tomatoes
  • Fry well adding little water add potatoes, with 1 cup water, green chilies, cover and cook until potatoes tender.

Method for rice:

  • Heat ¼ cup oil in a pan.
  • Add ginger garlic paste, all the seasonings fry well.
  • Then add rice, with water cover and cook till rice done than mix in the masala and leave it on dam.
  • Mix and serve.
